Why do all the satellite dishes in our street point in the same direction? It seems strange to think that the picture we see on our screen could have travelled thousands of miles. But how?
This resource unlocks the maths behind how a satellite signal travels from one point on the earth to another. The maths needed includes Pythagoras, Circle Theorems, Speed Distance Time and Standard Form. The Interactive worksheets ensure the necessary skills are developed before solving the more complex and functional problems involving the satellites.
This activity is aimed at the middle to higher end of the ability range, however many of the activities could be used as standalone activities.
